Gates Group
Every department of the hospital, on one platform
harp©, Gates Group's hospital information system, brings clinical care, the revenue cycle, the ERP, and analytics onto one platform. Incoding is its platform architect.
The challenge
Gates Group began as a healthcare management advisor to hospitals. Inside those hospitals, its team saw how the work gets harder when each department runs on its own system. The same patient, order, or charge is entered again in the next place, and every hospital and country has its own forms, protocols, and payer rules. harp© is Gates Group's answer: one platform for the whole hospital.
- Hospital departments working in separate systems, joined by interfaces
- The same patient, order, or charge entered again from one department to the next
- Forms, protocols, and payer rules that differ from one hospital and country to the next
Our role
Incoding is the platform architect for harp©, which is in development. harp© is the intellectual property of Gates Group. It brings every department of a hospital onto one platform of six systems: clinical, the revenue cycle, the ERP, analytics and operations, mobile apps, and the platform beneath them. The clinical system has 23 modules. They run from the medical record, decision support, nursing, beds, and scheduling to the laboratory, imaging, and pharmacy, the emergency department, intensive care, and the operating room, and specialties such as cardiology, oncology, maternity, and dialysis. Three mobile apps, for patients, physicians, and staff, will run on iOS and Android.
Behind the care sit the systems it sets in motion. The revenue cycle covers patient access, pricing and payer contracts, billing and claims, utilization review, denials and appeals, and revenue integrity. The ERP covers finance, budgeting, micro-costing, the supply chain, facilities and assets, human resources, documents, and a service desk. Analytics and operations brings reporting, clinical analytics, quality and safety, and strategy. The platform holds the shared services: onboarding, master data, security and audit, tasks and messaging, and integration. Each module keeps its own data, and the patient record ties the care flow together.
In the care flow, every step updates the rest. Booking checks eligibility and the availability of rooms, equipment, and staff. Each lab test raises its own charge and takes its reagents from stock, and discharge builds the itemized bill and the claim. Regional rules arrive as country packs, published only by Gates Group. Each hospital configures its own payer contracts, workflows, forms, order sets, and reports, and sets who sees and does what, with every access recorded. harp© is designed around JCI hospital standards, with US clinical practice guidelines embedded through Cognitio. Accreditation stays with the hospital. An AI layer is specified for every module and sequenced on the roadmap, and a named person makes each decision. Every hospital gets its own application and database, in Microsoft Azure or in its own data center.

How it works
How one patient moves through harp©.
Step 1: Book
The visit is booked from the patient app or the front desk, and eligibility is checked.
Step 2: Admit
A bed is assigned, and the encounter opens with its coverage in place.
Step 3: Diagnose
Lab and imaging results return to the record, and each test raises its charge.
Step 4: Treat
Medication is checked when ordered, and every dose leaves stock with its cost.
Step 5: Discharge
The signed summary releases the bed, and the itemized bill and the claim are built.
Step 6: Follow up
The follow-up is booked, and results are shown in the patient app.
Each step also updates billing, stock, and analytics.
The outcome
- harp©, in development: clinical care, the revenue cycle, the ERP, and analytics on one platform, with the patient record tying the care flow together
- Each step of care raises its charge, moves its stock, and updates the figures, with each entry typed once
- Country packs, published by Gates Group, for each region's rules, and payer contracts and workflows that each hospital configures
The project in numbers
- 49modules, in 6 systems, on one platform
- 6systems: clinical, revenue cycle, ERP, analytics and operations, mobile apps, and platform
- 23clinical modules, from the medical record to dialysis
